Knight Transportation is hiring a New Driver Instructor for the West Valley City, UT location. CDL-A Training Instructors teach new drivers in the classroom and on the range, providing hands-on instruction on all essential driver skills. In addition, instructors provide new drivers with practical guidance related to in-cab systems and telematics equipment, professional expectations, and safe decision making on the road.
- $53,535-$76,975 annual pay range
- Conduct classroom-based training on Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), company safety expectations and policies
- Provide hands-on instruction on driving techniques such as close quarters maneuvering and backing
- Teach new drivers essential driver knowledge including how to record Hours of Service (HOS) using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD), how to conduct and complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), and how to ensure cargo is secure
- Knight Transportation is looking for a CDL-A holder and current truck driver with 2+ years of OTR experience to transition into an instructor role in the classroom

Qualifications
- 2+ years’ OTR experience required unless state law requires additional years of experience.
- Must be able to qualify as a Class A CDL driver by meeting company requirements including, but not limited to:
- Must have fewer than 3 moving violations within a 5 year period (no more than 1 within 12 months).
- Must have fewer than 2 suspensions within 3yrs (this excludes child support).
- Must have no history of a DUI or DWI within the last 5yrs or 1 within the last 15yrs.
- Must have fewer than 2 preventable accidents within 5 yrs.
- Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) road test.
- Must have appropriate state certification as a CDL Examiner if tasked with administering exams.

Dispatched Loaded Miles represent Knight’s most current version of the Rand McNally Household Goods Carriers Bureau Mileage Guide (the “Bureau Miles”) from the shipment origin point, via any intermediate points for required pickups or deliveries, to the final delivery point.
