Honoring Our Veterans: Knight Transportation Supports Wreaths Across America
Each December, communities across the nation gather to honor fallen service members through Wreaths Across America, a nationwide effort to ensure our veterans are remembered during the holiday season. Knight Transportation was proud to participate again this year, helping deliver and place the wreaths at veterans’ cemeteries across the country.
Delivering More Than Wreaths - Delivering Remembrance
Wreaths Across America relies on dedicated volunteers and transportation partners to deliver wreaths to national and local cemeteries across the United States. Knight Transportation proudly contributed by hauling two trailers full of wreaths to the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona and the Arlington National Cemetery, where volunteers laid them at the headstones in tribute to our nation’s heroes.
At the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona alone, more than 16,000 wreaths were placed in a single day. Nationwide, over 3 million wreaths were laid at veterans’ cemeteries during this year’s Wreaths Across America events – an extraordinary show of gratitude and remembrance.
The Meaning Behind the Wreath
As shared during the ceremony, the wreath itself carries deep symbolism. Its circular shape represents eternity – no beginning and no end – a reminder that the memories of those who served live on in our hearts forever. For many volunteers, including veterans, the experience is deeply personal.
One volunteer reflected on the legacy of his grandfather and other World War II soldiers, noting their selfless sacrifice in defending the freedoms we enjoy today. For veterans in attendance, placing wreaths on fallen comrades’ graves is especially powerful, an experience that “hits home” and stays with them for a lifetime.
Knight Drivers Leading With Heart
Knight Transportation is especially proud of the drivers who volunteered their time to represent Knight at Wreaths Across America across the country:
- Marcia L. participated in the solemn and historic ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, honoring those laid to rest at one of our nation’s most sacred grounds.
- Dale A. and his trainee and military veteran, Anthony C., proudly represented Knight at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona helping place wreaths and honoring veterans in the Phoenix community.
Their participation reflects the heart of Knight Transportation – service, respect, and a deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by our military members and their families.
