Chasing the Finish Line: Inside Jenny Tyler & Glen Thomas’ Marathon Journey

Get to know two of Knight’s standout leaders – Jenny Tyler, VP of National Accounts, and Glen Thomas, SVP of Real Estate – through a different lens: their shared passion for running.
Follow along as Jenny & Glen prepare for one of the most iconic races in the world – the Boston Marathon – and see how their individual journeys come together in pursuit of something bigger.
Finding the “Runner’s High”
For both Glen and Jenny, running became more than just a hobby – it became a mindset.
There’s something unique about endurance racing: the discipline, the challenge, and the sense of accomplishment that comes with crossing the finish line. “The marathon is a feat in itself, and then pushing to run even faster – to see your pace improve and how far you can push yourself fitness-wise, is incredibly rewarding,” Jenny explains.
From marathons to Ironmans, the drive to compete and continually improve fuels their training. “You push yourself to see how much better you can get. There’s a real joy in it,” Glen says.
Overcoming Adversity
In 2020, Glen faced one of his greatest challenges yet. While training for an Ironman, he was involved in a serious accident that left him with multiple fractures, including a broken neck and back.
Despite months of recovery and rehabilitation, his determination never waved. Just 10 months after the crash, Glen completed Ironman Indiana – an incredible testament to resilience and mental strength.
His story is a powerful reminder: setbacks don’t define you – how you respond does.
Training Together, Pushing Each Other
Over the past few years, Jenny & Glen have found motivation not only in their individual goals but in each other. Training side by side has created a shared sense of accountability and encouragement.
“We’re doing the same training plan and pushing hard. It’s been fun to have that connection at work,” Jenny shares.
Their preparation for the Boston Marathon included 12-week training blocks, early mornings, lunchtime runs, and peak weeks reaching up to 66 miles. Balancing demanding careers with intense training requires discipline and sacrifice.

Race Day at Boston
The Boston Marathon is more than just a race – it’s an experience. Known for its history, energy, and challenge, it represents the pinnacle for many runners.
For Jenny and Glen, race day delivered unforgettable moments. From the electric atmosphere of cheering crowds to emotional milestones along the course, Boston lived up to its reputation.
“There was a moment where the crowd was so loud, it just filled me with emotion,” Glen recalls.
Both athletes achieved personal milestones:
- Glen finished with a personal record of 2:52:30
- Jenny earned a PR of 3:08, continuing her pursuit of breaking the three-hour mark
From aiming for personal records to pursuing the world’s major marathons – Berlin, London, Tokyo, and Sydney – they continue to set their sights on new challenges.
